PageTurn 3

Over the last couple of months I've been working on a new version of PageTurn. It adds a tonne of features:

  • eBook and webpage support, allowing you to scroll those hands-free, just like PDFs
  • set lists and bookmarks, which means you can create collections of PDFs that will automatically transition between one another just as if they were single documents
  • a completely rewritten annotations system that should be significantly more reliable
  • support for using keyboards and pedals to turn pages
  • more streamlined onboarding and calibration

Less of a user-facing change is that 3.0 is a ground-up rewrite of the app. I wanted to revise some pretty clunky things that carried over from its original codebase (from 2018!) so decided to rebuild it, top to bottom. It's much more architecturally sound, and makes it a lot easier to add new features.

I started this in 2025, but didn't really have much time to finish it. However, I found myself with a little more capacity for side projects after getting laid off recently...

On that note, I'd really appreciate if you subscribed, or shared PageTurn with someone who might be interested!

Addressing the elephant in the room, this version does make the dreaded move to a subscription model. Frankly, I want to see if I can make the app a viable business, and not just a hobby. I think it offers a pretty good value proposition, as someone who uses the app daily myself. Anyone who purchased the app pre-subscription will continue to get lifetime access to the above feature set, which I hope feels fair.
